What to Expect from a Workplace Flu Vaccination Programme
As flu season approaches, many employers take proactive steps to protect their workforce by organising employee flu vaccinations.
If this is your first time coordinating a flu programme or if you’re still contemplating booking one, you may not be familiar with all the details or what to expect.
This blog is for you.
Let’s go through the process step-by-step and cover all the essential information you need to consider when arranging flu vaccinations for your team.
Let’s assume you have already made an enquiry.
You provided all the information necessary to obtain a quote; staff headcount, uptake estimations, locations of workplace etc. and you’ve decided to go ahead with flu vaccinations with us; delivered at your workplace.
Firstly, the flu nurse will arrive to your workplace 15 minutes prior to the session to set up. They will have everything they need to deliver the vaccines to your employees.
The location of your flu programme will be pre-decided based on a risk assessment to ensure the designated area meets our minimum safety requirements. It will usually be in a meeting room or a common area within your workplace.
Throughout the session, the nurse will vaccinate your employees, stopping for lunch mid-way through for longer sessions.
Companies who utilise our online booking platform benefit from employees scheduling their own vaccinations. We find the day runs smoother with less no-shows when employees take ownership of when to have their flu jab.
We recommend this approach for all medium to large companies.
After the session has ended, the nurse will pack up all the equipment including the clinical waste and check-in with the company contact to make sure everyone who wanted a flu jab, received their vaccination.
The nurse will leave the room as they found it.
Employees unable to attend their scheduled appointment or absent on the session day can visit our Fleet Street Clinic at 29 Fleet Street for their flu vaccination.
This service can also be provided by itself, to smaller companies that may not want an on-site session but still want to offer flu vaccinations to their employees.
Still unsure whether to organise a workplace flu programme?
Here’s a reminder of the numerous benefits:
- Health Protection: The flu is highly infectious and can spread very easily in the workplace. The virus can live for 24 hours on surfaces such as keyboards, desks and doorknobs. Flu vaccines reduce your risk of getting the flu and its potential complications, contributing to a healthier work environment.
- Reduced Absenteeism: Fewer flu cases mean less sick leave, helping maintain productivity throughout the winter season.
- Convenience: Getting vaccinated at work saves you and your employees time and effort compared to visiting a clinic.
By booking a workplace flu vaccination programme, you not only safeguard the health of your employees but also protect your business from potential flu-related costs this winter.
With effective planning and clear communication, the process is designed to be as smooth and stress-free as possible.
